AVANT
About This Experience
AVANT marks Haikal Johari's return to Bangkok after almost a decade in Singapore, where he led several headline kitchens. The room is a discreet 10-seat low counter facing the open kitchen; behind it, the city skyline and Lumpini Park frame every course.
Haikal cooks contemporary French with confident Asian moves — Japanese stocks, Singaporean-Hokkien sambals, the occasional Thai herb — woven through classical technique. The set menu is short by design (six to eight courses) so each plate gets the attention it deserves, and the small room means the kitchen can adjust on the fly.
The wine list leans toward Burgundy, the Loire and small Australian producers, with sake and Japanese whisky for the Asian dishes. One MICHELIN star.
