Nusara
About This Experience
Sister restaurant to Le Du, Nusara is the more personal project of Chef Thitid 'Ton' Tassanakajohn. Set in a restored shophouse in the old town with the spires of Wat Pho framed in the windows, it is dedicated to his late grandmother, whose recipes form the spine of the menu.
The twelve-course tasting reads like a Bangkok-Thai family album: crab fried rice elevated with house-cured roe, beef massaman braised for days, deep-South curries thickened with fresh coconut cream, classic Thai desserts plated like jewellery. Where Le Du is technical, Nusara is emotional.
It has been a fixture in Asia's 50 Best top ten and is one of the hardest reservations in the city, partly because the room only seats around forty and partly because the view at sunset is genuinely one of the best in Bangkok.
Why It's Special
A Thai grandmother's recipe book, rebuilt at fine-dining precision, served above the rooftops of the old town with Wat Pho in view.
